Obituary: Scott C. Temple, 68, of Branford
Active with the RTC for 35 years and a Board of Rec member for 15 years, as an avid sports fan, he rooted for the NY Yankees and NY Giants.
Scott C. Temple, a life-long resident of Branford, died following a lengthy illness on Tuesday October 3, 2023 surrounded by his family. Scott was born in New Haven on August 17, 1955, son of the late John C. and Roberta Smith Temple. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Diane Swanson Temple, his beloved children, Meredith (Sean) Zipper of Milford and Stephen Temple of Branford; his grandchildren, Michael, Mallory and Elizabeth Zipper (all of whom he absolutely adored), his sister Jennifer T. (Michael) Eisele of Madison, his brother-in-law Jeffrey Swanson (Marion) of Alexandria, Virginia and his nieces and nephews.
Scott attended Branford High School and American International College before embarking on a rewarding career in marketing and sales, an occupation which meshed well with his outgoing nature. He was an active member of the Republican Town Committee of Branford for 35 years and served as the Assistant Chairman for fundraising. Scott was a member of the Branford Board of Recreation from 1987-2002 and was the Chairman of the Board of Recreation from 1992-2002.

Scott loved family time, especially many vacations spent in Maine and at his summer cottage in Westerly, Rhode Island. An avid sports fan, Scott rooted for the Yankees and the Giants and was a passionate fan of the Big East Tournament. He was a basketball official for 36 years and played golf enthusiastically and proficiently at every opportunity.
Scott will always be remembered for his larger-than-life personality, his great sense of humor and his unfailing generosity. He lived life to the fullest, faced his illness with great courage and dignity, was a friend to all he met and was the anchor of his extended family. He will always be missed.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Scott’s life on Thursday, October 12 from 9:00-10:30 at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street in Branford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Bosco Parish in St. Mary Church, 731 Main Street, Branford. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery.
