Obituary: Tonia A. Gaffney, 72, of Branford

Tonia A. Gaffney of Branford passed away on Friday October 13, 2023 at Connecticut Hospice. Tonia was born September 24, 1951 in New Haven, daughter of the late Anthony and Mary “Theresa’ Giordano. She gave 40+ years of service to IBM until her retirement in 2019. She graduated with her bachelor’s degree from Albertus Magnus college.

Tonia is survived by her daughter Meredith Gaffney of Milford and was predeceased by her son Michael Gaffney. She survived by her two nieces, Erica Pepe of Wallingford and Tara Pepe of Guilford and her sister Marisa Pepe of Branford along with many beloved friends. Tonia was loved by many and touched the lives of everyone she met.

Tonia was an active member of the Branford community including the Branford Garden Club and a member of the choir and St. Mary’s Church. She loved skiing in Vermont, cooking, traveling, working in her garden, sewing, and enjoyed her artistic ability which includes painting and drawing.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Friday October 20th at 10:00 in St. John Bosco Parish at St. Mary Church, 731 Main Street, Branford. There are no calling hours and burial will be private.
