Why are you seeking this office?
To perform public service for the people in Branford
The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:
The increase in property taxes, especially after the recent revaluation. I intend to find ways to ease the burden on the citizens, especially the elderly, those that are retired, those individuals who are on a fixed income and those without sufficient funds and are threatened with not being able to remain in their homes. I will be looking at a variety of measures such as legislation that caps property taxes for those groups highlighted above and whether the town has sufficient resources to utilize to ease the tax burden on our residents.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I have sat on numerous committees and am the current chairman of Administrative Services. I am running for my 4th term to represent the citizens of the 4th district and the experience I have on the legislative body is vital in my service for my constituents.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
Enforcement of the noise and the blight ordinances, traffic control with an emphasis on speeding and an improved sidewalk infastructure. I am also always looking to increase the town's tax base while maintaining Branford's rural integrity.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I was the co-author of the Blight Ordinance and the law enacting the Harbor Management Commission. In my capacity of the chairperson for Administrative Services I have held numerous department heads accountable for their budgetary requests.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
With respect to my public service, the best advice I have received was that effective leadership is best achieved through ethical and moral behavior, building bipartisan coalitions and not being driven by personal ego.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
If I am fortuante enough to be re-elected I am highly motivated and extremley eager to work towards maintaining Branford as the gem on the Connecticut shoreline and a place that we are all fortunate enough to live.
