My spouse, Sumitra Shrestha, is always supportive. My daughter, Khusbu Shrestha, went through the Branford school system and earned her master’s degree in Accounting from UConn. My younger son, Angel Shrestha, is currently a 9th grader at Branford High School.

No.
Previous public office, appointive or elective:
I am currently serving as an RTM member from District 4 and proudly serve on the Public Services Committee.
Why are you seeking this office?
1. Community-focused
I am seeking a second term as an RTM member because I care deeply about our Branford community. Over the past term, I’ve had the privilege of listening to residents, learning how our town government works, and contributing to important decisions. I want to continue serving to ensure Branford remains a safe, vibrant, and welcoming place for all families.
2. Experience & continuity
Having served my first term on the RTM and the Public Services Committee, I’ve gained valuable experience working on issues that directly affect our town. I am seeking a second term to continue building on that progress, represent the voices of District 4, and help make thoughtful, balanced decisions for Branford’s future.
3. Personal motivation
I’m running for a second term because I truly believe in giving back to the community that has given so much to my family. As a long-time Branford resident and parent, I want to continue working toward better public services, responsible budgeting, and a strong sense of community.

The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is maintaining and improving our town’s infrastructure and public services. I intend to work toward better maintenance of our roads, sidewalks, and community spaces, while ensuring taxpayer dollars are used efficiently and responsibly.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
The major difference between me and other candidates is my deep connection to the Branford community and my hands-on approach to public service. As a long-time resident, parent, and current RTM member, I understand the real issues that families in our town face. I listen carefully to residents, work collaboratively, and focus on practical solutions rather than politics.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
I will focus on strengthening public services, improving infrastructure, supporting education, promoting transparency, and encouraging community involvement — all while ensuring Branford grows sustainably and remains affordable for families.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
During my first term on the RTM, I served on the Public Services Committee, collaborating to address community concerns and enhance town operations. As an engaged resident and parent active in Branford’s schools and events, I’ve gained a strong understanding of local needs and developed the ability to listen, problem-solve, and make thoughtful, community-focused decisions.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
The best advice I ever received was to listen more than you speak.

I care deeply about our community and am committed to fair, transparent representation. My focus is on strengthening Branford’s services, supporting our schools, and preserving our town’s character through collaboration, accountability, and thoughtful decision-making.
