Protesters Want Branford Bike Shop to Be Boycotted
A group of about three dozen people held signs and chanted slogans asking people to refrain from shopping at Zane's Bike Shop.
BRANFORD, CT - About three dozen people stood outside Zane's Cycles on Saturday afternoon asking people to boycott the store because of what they said was unfair labor practices by the bicycle shop's owner.
Among the complaints of the people outside the store, who held signs and shouted into microphones, was that a long-time employee, Alfonso Santiago (pictured) was fired because he was part of a union starting movement at the bike shop.
Fatima Rojas, speaking for Santiago, said Santiago was let go by owner Chris Zane last year. "It is a difficult place to work," Rojas said.
