Stony Creek Brewery Hosts 'Kick the Keg to Feed Our Vets'

Stony Creek Brewery hosted a fundraising event for Feed Our Vets.

“We joined Willimantic Brewing Company in their efforts to raise money for Feed Our Vets,” says Andy Schwartz, brewmaster. To kick off Connecticut Beer month, two old school brewers, David Wollner from Willimantic Brewing Company and Stony Creek Brewery’s Schwartz, collaborated to create the perfect Malt Liquor. The Brewery is donating $1.00 from every pint poured to the cause. In addition to Wollner and Schwartz, Michael Beattie was in attendance. This 67-year-old Navy Veteran took a 12,000 mile bike ride circumnavigating the United States to raise awareness for Feed Our Vets.

Since 2008, Feed Our Vets has provided free food assistance to more than 20,000 Veterans and their family members, distributing 445,000 lbs. of food. Feed Our Vets mission is to help Veterans in the United States, their spouses and children, whose circumstances have left them on the battlefield of hunger, and to involve the public in fighting Veteran hunger.

“When I heard about Michael Beattie’s ride and brought the collaboration brew idea to Andy, the rest just fell in place”, says Wollner, “It was friends doing what they do for a worthy cause. Willimantic Brewing Company and Stony Creek Brewery will continue to donate $1.00 from each pint until the Malt Liquor runs out.
