Town Records Show Former USS Chowder Pot Site In Branford Sold For $1.5M In Late July
After shuttering for good in the winter of 2024, the site of the former USS Chowder Pot sold for $1.515,000 late last month, records show.

BRANFORD, CT — After shuttering for good in the winter of 2024, the site of the former USS Chowder Pot sold for $1.5 million late last month, records show.
After nearly four decades in business, the beloved eatery closed its doors on March 3, owner/chef John Bencivengo Jr. announced "with a heavy heart." Read that story here.
A few weeks later, Bencivengo said that "through the roof" expenses including the costs of seafood and beef, and associated post-pandemic factors were the perfect storm that led to the closure.

In August, the East Main St. site was put up for sale, listed at $2.5 million.
According to town records, the site sold for $1.515,000 to an LLC, 560 E. Main Holdings, and was recorded on July 22.
