What You Need To Know About Main, Montowese Streets Intersection Traffic Pattern Shift Starting Monday
Traffic operations at the downtown intersection will be adjusted for underground utility work, expected to last 3 to 4 weeks.
BRANFORD, CT —Beginning Monday, traffic operations at the intersection of Main Street and Montowese Street will begin to be modified to accommodate additional underground utility work, according to the town.
These changes will support Frontier’s contractor during the relocation of underground conduit ahead of the Main Street Reconstruction project.
Key Traffic Adjustments:
• Right-turn lane closure on Main Street approaching Montowese Street
• Reduction to a single northbound lane on Montowese Street approaching Main Street
• Temporary relocation of the CT Transit bus stop farther West toward Park Place
• Adjusted traffic signal timings and additional signage to guide drivers
• Enhanced pedestrian safety measures around active work zones
