7 People, 1 Pet Displaced By 2-Alarm Fire In Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Bridgeport firefighters battled a two-alarm house fire Wednesday morning, which resulted in seven people and one pet being temporarily displaced, according to fire officials.

All the occupants of the home at 628 Grand St. were safely evacuated, and they will be assisted by the American Red Cross with relocation efforts.

The fire department was alerted to the blaze at 8:45 a.m.

"The Bridgeport Fire Department arrived on the scene to find heavy fire and smoke in a 3-story wood frame building," officials wrote in a statement. "This fire quickly escalated to a second alarm, and the Stratford Fire Department and Fairfield Department were called for mutual aid for coverage in the city."

Members of the Bridgeport Fire Marshal’s office are investigating the cause of the fire.
