Bridgeport 2024 Election Guide: What You Need To Know

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Election Day is upon us and there are several key positions on the ballot, including the office of President, U.S. senator, Congress, state representative and state senate, and more.

Everyone will be asked to vote on this referendum question, "Shall the Constitution of the State be amended to permit the General Assembly to allow each voter to vote by absentee ballot?"

Here is a look at all the candidates on the ballot in Bridgeport:
For President, the candidates are: Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, Democrat; Donald J. Trump and J.D. Vance, Republican; Jill Stein and Butch Ware, Green Party; Chase Oliver and Mike ter Maat, Libertarian; and Robert Kennedy Jr. and Nicole Shanahan, Petitioning candidate.

For United States Senate, the candidates are: Christopher S. Murphy, Democrat, and Matthew M. Corey, Republican. Murphy is also endorsed by the Working Families Party. Other candidates include: Justin C. Paglino, Green Party, and Robert Finley Hyde, Cheaper Gas Groceries Party.

For U.S. Congress in the 4th District, the candidates are: Jim Himes, Democrat; Dr. Michael Goldstein, Republican; and Benjamin Wesley, Independent.

For state senate in the 22nd Senatorial District, the candidates are: Sujata Gadkar-Wilcox, Democrat; Chris Carrena, Republican; and Robert Edward Halstead, Independent.

For state senate in the 23rd Senatorial District, the candidates are: Herron Gaston, Democrat; Brian Banacowski, Republican; and Ernest E. Newton, II, New Movement Party. Gaston is also endorsed by the Working Families Party.

For state representative in the 124th District, the candidates are: Andre Baker, Jr., Democrat; Yoshiyahu Yisrael, Republican; and Eneida Martinez, New Movement Party.

For state representative in the 126th District, the candidates are: Fred Gee, Jr., Democrat, versus David R. Herz, Republican.

For state representative in the 127th District, the candidate is Marcus A. Brown, Democrat, who is running unopposed.

For state representative in the 128th District, the candidates are: Christopher Rosario, Democrat; Ramona Marquez, Republican; and Angel M. Gonzalez, Independent.

For state representative in the 129th District, the candidates are: Steve Stafstrom, Democrat, versus Francis Kalangala, Republican.

For state representative in the 130th District, the candidates are: Antonio D. Felipe, Democrat, versus Terry "Cowboy" Sullivan, Republican.

For state representative in the 133rd District, the candidates are: Cristin McCarthy Vahey, Democrat, versus Chris Verras, Republican. Vahey is also endorsed by the Working Families Party.

For Registrar of Voters, the candidates are: Patricia A. Howard, Democrat, versus Linda A. Grace, Republican.

Voting Details
Polls in Connecticut are open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. You can use the Secretary of State’s website to find your polling place. Voters who are in line by 8 p.m. will be allowed to vote.

Connecticut also allows for Election Day registration at designated centers in each town. People must be registered by 8 p.m. in order to vote using Election Day registration.
