Bridgeport Considers Forensic Audit Of School Finances: Report

Bridgeport Public Schools is in a deep financial hole to the tune of nearly $40 million.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — With a massive financial hole in its schools budget, the Bridgeport Board of Education is considering a forensic audit to determine the reasons for the shortfall, the Connecticut Post reported.

The school district is nearly $40 million in the red, and the board recently proposed dozens of layoffs to help address the fiscal crisis.

Cost of the forensic audit is not yet known, but it reportedly could reach as much as $100,000.
