Bridgeport Fire Damages Home, Displaces 5: Fire Officials

The Sylvan Avenue blaze was reported just after 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A Wednesday afternoon fire at 815 Sylvan Ave. in Bridgeport damaged the home and temporarily displaced three adults, two children and two pets, according to fire officials.

No injuries were reported in the blaze, which was called in just after 4 p.m.

"Arriving fire units found a fire in the area of the wood burning stove, which they quickly brought under control," Tiadora Josef, Bridgeport's director of Public Information, wrote in a statement.

The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.

Members of the Bridgeport Fire Marshal's Office are investigating the cause of the fire.
