Bridgeport Man Accused Of Stealing Checks From Westport Business: PD

The suspect is accused of cashing more than $5,600 worth of fraudulent checks, according to Westport police.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 19-year-old Bridgeport man was arrested last week by Westport police on charges of larceny and identity theft, after authorities said he cashed more than $5,600 worth of fraudulent checks that had been stolen from an unnamed Westport business.

Marvin Morales-Pablo was arrested at his Bridgeport home on Jan. 8, and was charged with third-degree larceny and third-degree identity theft.

The case began in October, when Westport police received a complaint from the business that several of its checks had been fraudulently deposited.

Using search warrants and ATM surveillance, detectives were able to establish Morales-Pablo as the suspect, according to authorities.

Morales-Pablo remains in custody in lieu of bail of $100,000, and he is scheduled to next appear in Stamford Superior Court on March 18.
