Bridgeport Mayor Gambles on Huskies for NCAA Women's Basketball Eastern Regional Final
Mayor Joe Ganim and the Mayor Beth Van Duyne of Irving, TX have engaged in a friendly wager on the outcome of the game.

From the City of Bridgeport:
Mayor Joe Ganim announced Monday, March 28 that, with the NCAA Women’s Basketball Eastern Regional final taking place at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport between the UCONN (University of Connecticut) Huskies and University of Texas Longhorns, he and Mayor Beth Van Duyne of Irving, Texas have engaged in a friendly wager on the outcome of the game. Specifically, UCONN alum Mayor Ganim, class of 1981, is betting a case of local Connecticut micro-brew beer on the Huskies in exchange for a bet of local, Texas micro-brew from Mayor Van Duyne for the Longhorns.
“This is a great year to be a Huskies fan and watch our undefeated women once again advance towards the national title right here in Bridgeport,” said Ganim. “I told Mayor Van Duyne that she is brave to put in a wager against this Huskies team, but she is a good sport and has agreed to ship us a case of locally brewed Texas beer should UCONN come away victorious tonight. Of course, I will do the same if Texas wins. In any case, we are looking forward to an exciting competition tonight! Go Huskies!"
