Bridgeport Mom Is Caregiver, Advocate & Always Puts Family First
Patch and T-Mobile are partnering to shine a light on awesome moms in the Bridgeport area. Meet Michele Centeno!

BRIDGEPORT, CT— Moms do so much for everyone around them. We try to celebrate them all year long, but Mother's Day is a perfect opportunity to shout it from the rooftops and post it on Patch: Mom rocks!
Here at Patch we've launched an initiative to help recognize the awesome moms and mom figures in communities like yours.
This submission comes from Ashley Studioso who nominated Michele Centeno of Bridgeport.
What makes your Mom extra special?
My mother raised me and my sister all on her own. I suffer [from] Autism and I am 34, and back then not much was known how to help those of us afflicted with Autism. My mom advocated and diligently searched and fought and dedicated her everything to help me become the person I am today. She did this through three spinal surgeries and constant pain ... She does NOTHING for herself at all and now she is battling Leukemia and a few autoimmune disorders. She smiles every day, she fights through the pain and fatigue for us girls and yet she always says that she has been blessed with the job of mothering all three of us. She says God gave her the best job in the world and she would never ever ask HIM to make it easier or to change it. My Mother is OUR BLESSING and she deserves a blessing.
Why do you feel your Mom deserves the spotlight?
I believe my mom deserves the spotlight because after all she has done and still is doing for us, her daughters and her granddaughter, and always putting us ahead of herself asking for nothing but a hug and kiss everyday, instead of us in the spotlight, we want her in the spotlight. Oh, and by the way, everyone calls her mom no matter who they are to her. She is 58 years old and in all my life here on earth with her, I have never seen her do a thing for herself.
Happy Mother's Day to Michele Centeno, and thank you for all you do!
