Food Products Recalled By Bridgeport-Based Company: CT Officials
Carrot Top Country Kitchens LLC, operating as Carrot Top Kitchens of Bridgeport, issued the recall, according to authorities.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection’s Food and Standards Division is warning consumers that Carrot Top Country Kitchens LLC, operating as Carrot Top Kitchens of Bridgeport, is recalling five varieties of hummus because they contain undeclared sesame.
People with an allergy or severe sensitivity to sesame could experience serious or potentially life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume the products.
The recall includes the following 8-ounce hummus varieties: Lemon Garlic, Lime Ginger, White Truffle, Sundried Tomato and Caper, and Cherry Pepper. The affected products are sold in plastic containers and can be identified by the flavor name listed on the label.

The recalled hummus was distributed to the Rochambeau Farm Store in Bedford, New York, and was also sold at farmers markets in Connecticut.

No illnesses have been reported in connection with the products, according to state officials.
Consumers who purchased the recalled hummus are advised to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Questions may be directed to Carrot Top Kitchens at 203-313-4549.
Sesame was designated as the ninth major food allergen in the United States under the federal Food Allergy Safety, Treatment, Education and Research Act of 2021. Mandatory labeling requirements for sesame took effect Jan. 1, 2023.
