'Fright Night' Comes To Bridgeport Public Library
Bridgeport Library will host local horror authors for a night of readings, interviews, and trivia on April 24.
Information from the Horror Writers Association, Connecticut Chapter:
BRIDGEPORT, CT — The Bridgeport Public Library will host an evening of horror with local Connecticut horror authors, part of the Horror Writers Association, Connecticut Chapter’s Fright Night series. The event will feature live (or possibly dead) author readings, interviews, book sales and signing, and even some Connecticut-based horror trivia to test your knowledge of Connecticut’s macabre history.
Bridgeport librarian Jeffrey Coutts, who arranged the event with HWA-CT, says that he’s a big fan of horror and suspense fiction. “We’re really excited to have this event,” Coutts said. “I’m a big fan of horror fiction and we’re excited to showcase local authors and their work. This is a great way to expose readers to new and upcoming writers working in the genre.”
Bridgeport Library’s Fright Night will be held at the Burrough-Saden Main Library, 925 Broad Street in Bridgeport on April 24, from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
Featured authors include Jackson Kuhl, author of A Season of Whispers and The Dead Ride Fast; Gevera Bert Piedmont, author of Airesford and The Maw and Other Time-Traveling Lizard Tales; poet and short story writer Edward Ahern, whose works have been published in multiple collections; and playwright and book cover designer Logan Alexander Johnson.
“2023 was a record-breaking year for horror fiction with sales skyrocketing, and 2024 is shaping up the same way,” said Michele Bullock, co-chair of HWA of CT. “We’re sincerely grateful to the Bridgeport Library for hosting an event where the public can meet horror writers from their own state and be exposed to new stories and perspectives.”
