'He Inspires His Students': Bridgeport Local Hero

BRIDGEPORT, CT — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we’re working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

This submission comes from Glenda Charles who nominated Demetrius Purefoy of Bridgeport.

Hero's job: He is the owner and master instructor of Pure Martial Arts Fitness Academy

Relationship to nominee: I am a student at his Martial Arts school

Reason for recognition: Master Demetrius Purefoy owns and runs a Martial Arts school on East Main Street. He inspires his students ( mostly minority children) to become hard working, respectful productive citizens that live the life of a Martial Artists both on and off the mats.

One thing to know: He is making a difference in the lives of many inner city children and their families.
