Police Search For Suspect In University Of Bridgeport Shooting

One person was injured in the Oct. 29 shooting in the university's Marina Dining Hall.

Bridgeport police are searching for Dylan Cruz-Tillery, an 18-year-old Queens, NY man, who is the suspect in an October shooting at the University of Bridgeport that left one person injured.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — An arrest warrant has been issued for Queens, New York resident Dylan Cruz-Tillery, 18, the suspect in the Oct. 29 shooting at the University of Bridgeport that injured one person.

The suspect is wanted on charges of first-degree assault and carrying a pistol without a permit, and Bridgeport police are asking for the public's help in finding him.

"Tillery is known to frequent 223rd Street + 106th Street in Queens Village, NY," Bridgeport Police Capt. Kevin Gilleran wrote in a statement. "Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts should immediately call 911. Please follow up by contacting the case officer, Detective John Knapp, at 203-581-5251. Citizens can also utilize the Bridgeport Police Tips Line at 203-576-TIPS."

The shooting occurred inside the Marina Dining Hall at the University of Bridgeport, and the juvenile victim was treated at an area hospital for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the arm.

"This was a targeted shooting where Cruz-Tillery was familiar with the victim and had prior communication with him via social media," Gilleran said. Neither Tillery nor the victim are students at the school.

At the time, the shooting created an immediate temporary lockdown at the university, with a large security and police response, and a firearm and several other pieces of evidence were located, secured, and processed by the Bridgeport Police Department’s Major Crime Unit.

Bond for Tillery upon his capture is set at $250,000.
