St. Patrick's Day Parade Slated For Black Rock In 2023: Report

The parade, a Bridgeport tradition since the early 1980s, has not been held for three years.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — The Bridgeport St. Patrick's Day Parade, which has not been held for three years due to the coronavirus pandemic, is slated to return in 2023, pending police department approval, reported the Connecticut Post.

Instead of downtown, the 2023 version will be held along Fairfield Avenue in Black Rock, following approval this week by the city's Parks Commission. The parade has been a tradition in Bridgeport since the early 1980s.

The main driver for the proposed change in location is the closure of the Holiday Inn downtown, according to organizers.

It served as a starting and feeding point for the parade, but now those duties reportedly will fall on the bars and restaurants in the Black Rock area. The parade's staging area will now be Ellsworth Park.
