Suspect Accused Of Slashing Incident In Bridgeport: Police
The suspect led police on a foot chase through several backyards before his apprehension.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A person suffered a serious facial laceration last week in an attack in Bridgeport, during which the suspect fled from police and broke into a home before being apprehended, according to Bridgeport police. Though serious, the victim's facial wound is not considered to be a threat-to-life, authorities said.
The incident occurred Thursday in the 1200 block of Park Avenue, when police were called because people were blocking the front entrance of an unnamed store.
"As officers arrived to the location, several parties that were on scene, began walking away from the business," wrote Bridgeport Police Sgt. Mario Pecirep in a statement. "While on scene, two other parties were walking side by side in the opposite direction of the crowd, one of them being the suspect, 32-year-old Deonnedre Jones, and the other being the victim. As the officers walked towards Jones and the victim, Jones ignored the officers’ commands to stop walking. Jones suddenly pulled out a concealed knife and assaulted the victim, then engaging officers in a foot pursuit."

Jones ran through several backyards, and then broke into an occupied home on Laurel Court, according to Pecirep.
"The occupants of the home alerted the officers on scene that the suspect had run into their home," Pecirep said. "Officers made entry into the home and located the suspect, where he pulled out another knife. Officers were ultimately able to apprehend the suspect while inside of the residence."
