UPDATE: 3 Injured In 'Serious' Head-On Collision In Brookfield

First responders found two vehicles in the aftermath of the head-on collision, both their drivers trapped and requiring extrication.

BROOKFIELD, CT — Three people were seriously injured in a two-car crash late Monday afternoon, police are reporting.

Several 911 calls alerted the Brookfield Police Department of a crash in the area of Whisconier Road near the Newtown town line around 3:13 p.m.

First responders found two vehicles in the aftermath of a head-on collision, both their drivers trapped and requiring extrication by the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company. Three people were seriously injured, according to police, requiring hospitalization.

The response required all three BVFC ambulances, according to a report by BVFC on social media.

The crash closed Route 25/Whisconier Road between West Whisconier and Farrell Lane in Newtown until approximately 8:00 p.m., wile the Brookfield Accident Investigation Team surveyed the scene.
