Brookfield Firefighters Tackle 2 Simultaneous Blazes

Brookfield firefighters managed two simultaneous fires Tuesday, displacing residents but causing no injuries, officials said.

BROOKFIELD, CT — Brookfield firefighters and mutual aid crews responded to two simultaneous house fires in town Tuesday, displacing residents at both properties but causing no injuries, officials said.

The Brookfield Volunteer Fire Department had just completed its migration to a new digital radio system when smoke was reported in the building on Pocono Road, according to officials. The caller was directed to dial 911, and crews were dispatched to the scene. The incident was quickly upgraded to a working fire, prompting mutual aid from neighboring departments.

Minutes later, a separate 911 call reported a chimney fire on Merwin Brook Road. Additional resources were diverted to the second scene as firefighters brought the Pocono Road fire under control, officials said.
