BVFC crews responded to a single vehicle crash on Route 25 on Tuesday, as local roads began to ice over.
BROOKFIELD, CT — Local emergency officials are warning residents to proceed with caution in the wake of a winter storm that left several inches of snow and ice on the ground in Brookfield Tuesday.
The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement as patchy ice is forecast to develop late Tuesday and early Wednesday.
"Please continue to use caution while driving this afternoon and evening as road conditions continue to deteriorate," Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company officials posted to social media Tuesday afternoon.

BVFC crews responded to a single vehicle crash (above) on Route 25 earlier in the day. The solo driver was evaluated by EMS and refused treatment.
"Below freezing temperatures tonight will make for any snowmelt to refreeze, creating icy and slippery conditions on any untreated surfaces," the National Weather Service said for southern Connecticut. "The gusty winds will dry up some of this moisture from the snowmelt this evening, but there will likely be patches of moisture that freeze tonight. Proceed with extra caution while outside. Motorists should drive slowly and allow for extra spacing between vehicles."
