Brookfield Gas Prices Hold Steady As Regional Demand Stays Low
Gas prices in Brookfield remain flat, with regular fuel as low as $2.85. AAA cites soft demand and reduced production as key factors.
BROOKFIELD, CT — Gasoline prices across the Northeast are mostly flat as demand continues to underperform seasonal expectations, according to analysts at AAA Northeast
In Brookfield, the best price for a gallon of regular fuel is $2.85 at the BJs Wholesale at 106 Federal Road and the Costco at 200 Federal Road. At the CITGO at 177 Federal Road, at, you'll pay $2.87. The update was posted Monday by shopping app GasBuddy.
Last week, according to the Energy Information Administration, Americans consumed just 8.46 million barrels a day of gasoline – a slight uptick of 37,000 barrels a day over the prior week, but still trailing 2024’s pace by roughly 200,000 barrels a day. Next week’s figures, which will include data encompassing the Easter holiday, will be closely watched by market participants to see if demand breaks out of the spring doldrums.

“As demand has continued to stay soft, refiners have dialed back gasoline production to keep a floor beneath pump prices, which are the lowest for this time of year since 2021,” said Lauren Fabrizi, spokesperson for AAA Northeast. “Across the country, drivers are spending between 50 and 60 cents less per gallon than this time last year.”
AAA Northeast’s April 21 survey of fuel prices found the average for a gallon of regular in Connecticut is down a from last week's $3.05, averaging $3.04. Monday’s price is 4 cents higher than the $3.07 of a month ago, and 65 cents lower than this day last year, when it was $3.69.

The current national average is down 3 cents from last week, averaging $3.15 per gallon. Monday’s price is 3 cents higher than a month ago, and 52 cents lower than this day last year ($3.67).
Today, Mississippi and Tennessee have the lowest prices in the nation at $2.68 and $2.70, respectively. California and Hawaii hold the highest prices in the nation this week at $4.84 and $4.50, respectively. Connecticut holds the 22nd place on the list of highest gas prices in the nation.
