Brookfield Local Hero: 'Putting First Responders First'
Jessica Shapiro Williams and her children dedicate every day to making and giving masks to people in need.

BROOKFIELD, CT — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these everyday heroes.
Michelle McDonald in Redding nominated Brookfield mask-maker Jessica Shapiro Williams as a Patch Local Hero.
Williams and her children dedicate every day to making and giving masks to people in need, McDonald said. And they have the legacy to show for it: The family has made over 300 masks for first responders and her community.

They're accustomed to putting first responders and emergency personnel first — which might have something to do with the fact that Williams is married to a local police officer. Or it could be just that "they are a wonderful giving, productive family," according to McDonald.
