An interview will be included with Ernie Lincoln about his Confederate ancestor/cousin of Abraham Lincoln.

BROOKFIELD, CT — The Brookfield Museum and Historical Society will host a multi -media presentation on the Lincoln Family Homestead and Cemetery in Linville,Virginia on Monday October 10, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. at Brookfield Museum, 165 Whisconier Road at the intersection of Routes 25 and 133 in Brookfield Center.
Paula Hopewell, a Brookfield resident since 1997, will deliver the presentation which covers a recent visit she made to the Lincoln family homestead where she observed the annual ceremonies commemorating the anniversary of Lincoln's birth and toured the homestead and family cemetery nearby. The cemetery includes a stone dedicated to "The Last of the Lincoln Family Slaves: Uncle Ned and his Wife Queen." During her stay she met Ernie Lincoln, a direct descendant of Abraham Lincoln's great-grandfather and the last Lincoln living in the Shenandoah Valley.
Her program will include highlights of the visit and some of the fascinating people she encountered. It will end with a filmed interview she did with Ernie Lincoln about his Confederate ancestor, a cousin of President Abraham Lincoln, who shot at Yankee soldiers during the Civil War as they marched past the Lincoln Inn in Lacey Spring, Virginia. The discussion is a fitting testimony to the Lincoln family in Virginia. Hopewell, a native of Kentucky, has given numerous lectures on Lincoln at various venues throughout the state. She is a member of the Lincoln Symposia which meets annually in Gettysburg, PA.
