Brookfield Theatre announces open auditions for "Calendar Girls" to be held on Sunday August 25 and Monday August 26 from 6-8 p.m. at the theatre located at 184 Whisconier Road (Rt 25) in Brookfield, just behind Brookfield Library.
Calendar Girls was written by Tim Firth and is based on the Miramax motion picture by Juliette Towhidi and Tim Firth. The hilarious play is based on the true story of eleven members of the British Women's Institute who famously posed nude for a calendar to raise money for the Leukaemia Research Fund in 1999.
When Annie's husband John dies of leukaemia, she and her long-standing best friend Chris resolve to raise money for a new settee in the local hospital waiting room. With varying levels of encouragement, they persuade four friends and fellow members of the W.I. to pose nude with them for an "alternative" calendar.
The show is directed by Terry Sagedy with shows dates from November first through November 16th on Friday and Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 2pm.
