BROOKFIELD – Local residents might catch a glimpse of their hometown on the big screen this month as the Connecticut-based thriller TV series “Anonymous” makes its U.S. debut.

Over the course of seven episodes, the show follows a young woman whose world spirals out of control after she encounters the hacker group called “Anonymous,” according to Kaleidoscope Film Distribution’s website.

Filmed by Brookfield-based Lion Pride Studios in partnership with Bethel-based Mack Media, the series features Brianna Bauch of Newtown, Brianna Bowman of Bethel and Meghan Matturro of Redding in the leading roles. The show, which was filmed from January 2021 to August 2022, used various locations in Newtown, Southington, Plainville and Cheshire.

All seven episodes of “Anonymous” will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video, YouTube and Plex on Jan. 20, according to Josh DeLeon, director of “Anonymous” and a member of Lion Pride Studios.

Lion Pride Studios sold “Anonymous” to the global entertainment distributor Kaleidoscope Film Distributions in the U.K. in August 2023, according to a Lion Pride representative. The show had its debut in the U.K. in October via the U.K.-based Icon Film Channel from ICON Film Distribution, owned by Academy Award-winning director Mel Gibson.

DeLeon said the show “did pretty good” during its U.K. premiere and gained “quite a few followers from the U.K.” He said the show’s debut in the United States will allow all of Lion Pride Studio’s future projects “to go a lot faster,” adding the company is “in talks of three different deals for different ideas.”

“The process is going to be a lot faster … because we already have the recognition from a distributor and from a streaming service as well,” DeLeon said. “We’re really excited for our future because of what has transpired.”
