Brookfield Wetlands Commission Approves Projects, Schedules Hearing For Long Meadow Hill

Brookfield Inland Wetlands Commission approves projects, reviews violations, and sets hearing for Long Meadow Hill Road.

BROOKFIELD, CT — The Inland Wetlands Commission approved two development applications, reviewed ongoing enforcement cases and scheduled a public hearing for a new project during its Aug. 11 meeting at Town Hall.

Commissioners unanimously approved an application for remediation work at 46 Greenridge Drive, where a volleyball court had been built in a regulated area. The approval requires the installation of three concrete monuments to mark the wetlands boundary by Nov. 1, with inspection to follow. Once the monuments are in place, the violation will be removed.

The panel also approved plans for the installation of two underground oil and water separators at 993 Federal Road. The work, which will disturb about 660 square feet of wetlands within a floodplain, includes erosion and sediment controls and will proceed with standard conditions.

In new business, the commission scheduled a public hearing for Aug. 25 on an application to construct a driveway and culvert connecting 170 and 172 Long Meadow Hill Road. The project would impact about 1,178 square feet of wetlands on the 2.1-acre property.
