Celebrate National Library Week at The Brookfield Library
The Library is planning a week of fun activities from April 6th to 12th.

The Brookfield Library is excited to celebrate National Library Week from Sunday, April 6th to Saturday, April 12th with a calendar of celebrations and special programs.
National Library Week is an annual celebration of libraries around the United States that aims to highlight the valuable role that libraries and their staff play in our local communities.
The Brookfield Library is kicking off National Library Week on Sunday, April 6th with an opportunity to find your next great read and a concert. Join The Friends of The Brookfield Library for a Book Sale from 12 to 3:30 p.m. on the first floor of the Library. Then, at 2 p.m., the Library is proud to present Magic of the Harp with acclaimed harpist Wendy Kerner. Through a blend of music and storytelling, Kerner will share the enchantment of this incredible instrument. Cake and refreshments will also be served!

The remainder of the National Library Week celebrations are based on daily themes. Monday, April 7th is Patron Appreciation Day. Patrons are invited to stop by the Library during open hours to enjoy complimentary sweets and snacks all day long.

Tuesday, April 8th is Library Workers Day. Stop by the Library to show some love and appreciation by writing a message in a card.
Wednesday, April 9th is Outreach Day and Library Activism Day. Librarians will be out in the community to share library services. From 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., librarians will visit Whisconier Middle School for a Flair Fair Pop-Up for Teens; at 1:30 p.m., a librarian will visit The Village at Brookfield Commons for an adult story hour; and at 4 p.m., a children's librarian will visit Kid's Kingdom for a storytime. At the Library, community members are invited to Plant a Seed for Change at 6 p.m. In this special program, attendees can learn how to become a library advocate at the local, state, and federal level while decorating a terracotta pot and planting a seed.
Thursday, April 10th is Poetry Day. The Library will be holding a Community Poetry Project, where community members can visit the Library to make their mark and write a line of a community poem. Then, the Library's social media will be taken over by local teens who have created library-themed content! Follow along on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok to see the results of the Teen Takeover.
Friday, April 11th is More Than Just Books Day. To spread the word about library offerings that are more than just books, the Library is awarding anyone who checks out an item that is not a book with the chance to win a $25 gift card to the Brookfield Craft Center. Items include: books on CD, STEAM/STEM kits, early learning backpacks, playaways, Nintendo Switch games, museum and attraction passes, magazines, DVDs, CDs, and mobile hotspots.
Wrapping up the week, Saturday, April 12th is Movie Day, and the Library is showing a triple feature for all ages! At 10:30 a.m., kids and families can enjoy a screening of Despicable Me 4 (PG). At 12:30 p.m., teens can discover a classic teen movie, Ferris Bueller's Day Off (PG-13). Finally, adults can enjoy the Oscar-nominated A Complete Unknown (R) at 3 p.m.
