Deer Falls Through Ice On Lake In Brookfield, Rescued By Firefighters

Volunteer firefighter crews rescued a deer found partially through the ice on a lake in Brookfield this week, according to fire officials.

BROOKFIELD, CT — Volunteer firefighter crews rescued a deer that fell through the ice on a lake Thursday afternoon in Brookfield, according to fire officials.

In a Facebook post, the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company said crews were called to Riverford Road around 3 p.m. after receiving a report of a deer partially though the ice.

"The deer was successfully removed from the hole and assisted to the Bridgewater side of the lake without injury," BVFC officials said on Facebook.

Crews remained in the area for about an hour, officials said.
