Food Emporium Opens In Brookfield Town Center With Ribbon Cutting
Food Emporium opens in Brookfield Town Center with fresh foods, community focus, and a Dec. 20 family event featuring Santa.

BROOKFIELD, CT — Community leaders and store officials marked the opening of the new Food Emporium in Brookfield Town Center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday afternoon, celebrating a project long viewed as a catalyst for the town’s walkable commercial district.
The store is the anchor tenant of Brookfield Village, a multi-phase development that has transformed the Four Corners area with new apartments, restaurants and retail space. The project, backed by local developer Paul Scalzo, has been central to efforts to reshape Brookfield’s downtown into a mixed-use hub.
Scalzo thanked the town for its support in moving the grocery project forward during the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Store Manager Mike Hanson said the Food Emporium team aims to prioritize customer service and daily in-house preparation of produce, meat and deli products. He encouraged shoppers to request items they do not see on the shelves, noting a recent instance in which he sourced a specialty produce item overnight for a customer ahead of Thanksgiving.
