'Great Role Model To Kids': Brookfield Star Student Athlete

BROOKFIELD, CT — We all know student athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know the individual stories behind the leaderboard.

This submission comes from Charisse Payne who nominated Vanessa of Brookfield. Charisse got to know Vanessa when the student athlete coached lacrosse for younger students.

What sport does the star student athlete play?

Lacrosse, volleyball

Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?

Vanessa not only played varsity lacrosse as a freshman, she also coached our Lightning team (grades 3-4) and is an inspiration to younger girls!

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star student athlete?

Vanessa is smart, kind, and a great role model to kids, especially those just trying new sports. She's an excellent coach & is only a sophomore in high school!
