Historic Baptist Church Moves From Danbury To Brookfield
Danbury church purchases congregational property in Brookfield

The Baptist Church of Danbury was established in 1790 when George Washington was President of the United States. The church is well-known for its participation in the letter exchange with President Thomas Jefferson in 1801-1802, which has led to much discussion on the separation of Church and State.
Although the church has changed buildings within Danbury five times in its 234-year history, for the first time the Baptist Church of Danbury will be moving out of the city to the town of Brookfield. The Baptist Church has been in its 14 Granville Avenue home since 1955, and on Sunday, January 5th, 2025 will begin holding services at 126 Tower Rd. in Brookfield, the former home of Newbury Congregational Church (until the end of the year the church will continue to meet at its Danbury location). A building dedication service is being planned soon after the move.
The Baptist Church of Danbury is an independent Baptist church that stands for the fundamentals of the faith. The church believes in expository, practical preaching from the Bible. Dr. Bob Payne and the congregation of the Baptist Church of Danbury would like to invite you to join them at one of their services. The church meets on Sunday mornings at 10 AM, and Sunday afternoons at 3 PM. There is also a Wednesday Bible study and prayer meeting at 6 PM. You may contact the church at 203-743-5184.
