New Candidate Emerges in Brookfield First Selectman Race: Report

The candidate has served on the Board of Education for 14 years.

BROOKFIELD, CT — A longtime school board member will try his hand at a town wide race, announcing his candidacy for First Selectman, reports the News Times. Harry Shaker, who has served 14 years on the Board of Education, announced he will run on the Republican ticket for the position, saying he wants to do "different work in town."

Incumbent Steve Dunn, a Democrat, has not announced plans for re-election. Shaker cited his experience with the Board of Education budget and in the contracting field give as qualifications for the job.
