BROOKFIELD, CT — A heightened police presence at the former Center Elementary School on Tuesday was part of routine SWAT training and posed no public concern, according to Brookfield police.

The department said members of the Western Connecticut Regional Emergency Services Team were conducting their regularly scheduled monthly in-service training inside the vacant school building and on the surrounding grounds.

Officials said the exercises help ensure tactical officers remain prepared and coordinated for high-risk incidents across the region.
