Rolling Into Labor Day Weekend, How Are The Gas Prices In Brookfield?

BROOKFIELD, CT — In the run-up to the long holiday weekend, gasoline prices in Brookfield are following the time-honored script.

Historically, gasoline prices peak in early summer before sliding gradually in the weeks leading up to Labor Day. After reaching seasonal highs in mid-July, Northeast gas prices have fallen steadily and are now reaching levels below what drivers were paying through most of March and April, thanks in part to a quieter-than-expected hurricane season so far, according to Lauren Fabrizi, spokesperson for AAA Northeast.

In Connecticut, a gallon of self-service regular is averaging $3.41, down five cents from a week ago and down 15 cents from a month ago. The national average is $3.35, down six cents from last week and down 16 cents from last month.

In Brookfield, the best price for a gallon of regular fuel is $3.05 at both BJ's Wholesale at 106 Federal Road and the Costco at 200 Federal Road. At the CITGO at 177 Federal Road, you'll pay $3.07, and the cost is $3.21 at the Sunoco at 30 Federal Road. At the Shell station at 819 Federal Road, the price for a gallon of petrol is currently $3.63. The update was posted Monday morning by shopping app GasBuddy.

"An escalation in the ongoing conflict in the Middle East sent crude oil prices higher over the weekend and that could slow the pace of price declines here at home," Fabrizi said. "For now, drivers are benefitting from the weeks-long decline in pump prices."

On Monday, Oklahoma and Mississippi have the lowest prices in the nation at $2.88 and $2.89, respectively. Hawaii and California hold the highest prices in the nation this week at $4.64 and $4.60, respectively. Connecticut holds the 15th place on the list of highest gas prices in the nation.
