Republican candidates have refused to participate in the forum organized by the Greater Danbury-Brookfield Chamber of Commerce, scheduled for Monday, October 7. The lack of participation has led the Chamber to cancel the forum. The decision from Republicans has drawn sharp criticism from Democratic leaders and candidates, raising serious concerns about transparency, accountability, and a willingness to engage in open dialogue with the public.

"Debates are a crucial part of our democratic process, allowing voters to hear directly from the people who want to represent us," said Brookfield First Selectman Steve Dunn. "When candidates don't participate in public debates, people won't know where they stand on important questions about their policies, priorities, and vision for our future."
All three Democratic candidates planned to participate in the debate, addressing key issues such as lowering costs, quality education, reproductive rights, and protecting the environment. They see the forum as an essential platform for contrasting their policies with those of the Republican candidates who are choosing to remain on the sidelines.
