Last week, each class at Cherry Brook Primary School took an Earth Day themed hike.
I was fortunate enough to be one of the parent helpers for Marjorie Eldridge's first-grade class.
The hike at the Mary Conklin Preserve off Indian Hill not only featured a walk on two trails but also a trip to a vernal pool, where with the help of Roaring Brook Nature Center's Margery Winters, the children saw newts, tadpoles, salamander eggs and more. The kids also saw a vernal pool, old stone walls, tree hotels and more.
