Big Canton Bridge Project About To Get Concrete

The Old Canton Road bridge project will see a major stage next week when concrete is expected to be poured.

CANTON, CT — Local officials Monday released additional information about a major bridge overhaul expected to last into late fall.

Town officials said the Old Canton Road bridge project is progressing and, next week, May 7, new concrete sections of the bridge will be installed.

Because of the work, except for emergency vehicles, there will be no access to Old Canton Road between Route 44 and the Old Canton Road Bridge between 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Dayton Construction Inc. was hired to replace the bridge over Rattlesnake Brook on Old Canton Road.

The existing bridge has been closed and demolished, with a new one constructed.

Work began on the project March 18 and it isn't expected to be finished until Nov. 30.
