Canton Forum To Address Route 44 Safety Proposal

CANTON, CT — One of the town's main roadways is expected to get a facelift, with a public meeting Monday evening expected to address the issue.

Canton is hosting a meeting to address future transportation improvements to Route 44 and Dowd Avenue near Route 33 on Monday, Dec. 9.

The meeting, which will also be available for public viewing digitally, will take place at 6 p.m. at the Canton Community Center, 40 Dyer Ave., Canton.

The overall objective is to create a safer Route 44 in that area of Canton, both for motorists and pedestrians.

That area has been targeted by the Capital Region Council of Governments, which has conducted a study of Route 44 in Canton.

Over the summer, Canton residents provided input to CRCOG officials via an online survey.
