The expansion is part of the Bioscience Connecticut initiative that was passed in 2011 to bolster Connecticut's economy by generating sustainable economic growth based on bioscience research, innovation, entrepreneurship and commercialization; to expand medical education and access in Connecticut; and to improve the quality of health care in our region.     The event highlighted the progress made at UConn Health in the few years since Bioscience Connecticut construction started – including expanded technology incubator facilities, the new hospital tower, updated research labs, new academic space, new outpatient spaces and The Jackson Laboratory.
