Canton Library Hosting Historical Concert For America 250
The free event this weekend will feature a musical duo singing songs dating back to the American Revolution.

CANTON, CT — As part of the town's celebration of America 250, folks are invited to the Canton Public Library on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 1 p.m. for a concert/talk by Rick Spencer and Dawn Indermuehle.
In 1824, the Marquis de Lafayette returned to America to visit the nation he had fought years earlier to establish.

He received a celebrity’s welcome, visited all 24 states, and was honored as a surviving hero of the Revolutionary War.
The duo's presentation includes six songs that were popular during Lafayette's time in America during the Revolution, and six that were composed to commemorate his return in 1824.

The songs are arranged for two-part a capella vocals or are accompanied on guitar or banjo. The program also includes information about Lafayette's fascinating life.
Spencer and Indermuehle develop and present theme-based music and history programs, performing songs that give cultural insight into interesting times, places, and events in American history.
