• Show Off Your Decorated Home In Canton Holiday House Light Contest (patch.com) — Canton residents are invited to enter the 2025 Holiday House Lights Contest and show off their most spirited, creative, or traditional decorations. Open to Canton and Collinsville households, the event features judging and public viewing on Dec. 22, plus a Fan Favorite vote. Entry forms are available online until noon that same day.
   

• Regional Health Department Sounds The Bird Flu Alarm (patch.com) — Canton residents are being urged to avoid touching sick or dead birds after the Farmington Valley Health District issued a bird flu alert for all its member towns. The district, based in Canton, explains when bird deaths should be reported and provides state contacts and guidance for safely handling any necessary removal of wild or domestic birds.
