Canton Obituary: Donald Martin, 71

Donald Karl Martin, 71, of Canton Center, died Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington.

He was born August 26, 1946 in Hartford son of the late Woodrow Wilson and Betty (Hackbarth) Martin and had lived in Canton Center all his life. Mr. Martin owned Donald K. Martin Construction for several years.

Donald enjoyed fast trucks and cars, but his true passion was building things with his hands, making jewelry boxes and other gifts for his family as well as building several homes throughout the Farmington Valley. He also loved sitting outside enjoying the wildlife and nature.

He is survived by his son, James W. Martin and his wife Melinda; his daughter, Heidi E. Martin and her significant other Terry Pelczar; his brother, David Martin and his wife JoAnn; his sister, Gayl Christie and her husband Bill; his grandchildren, Melissa Patterson and her husband Brian, Jessica Brown and Emma and Grace Martin and his great grandchildren, Alexander Patterson, Adam Patterson, Leah Brown.

Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton, Friday, July 27th, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 28th, 10:00 AM in Village Cemetery, Huckleberry Hill Road, Collinsville.
