Canton PD Warns About Car Intrusions
The Canton PD said the town is seeing an uptick in reports of unlocked vehicles being accessed by potential thieves.
CANTON, CT — Local police are warning residents to lock their car doors as they're citing an uptick in reports of unlocked vehicles being entered in town and rummaged through.
The Canton Police Department issued the warning over the weekend.
"As we head into the evening, please remember to take a few simple steps to protect yourself and your property," wrote the CPD.

Those steps include:
• Lock your vehicles

• Remove valuables and keys from your car
• Close your garage doors
• Turn on exterior lights
"Canton Police Officers will continue to remain proactive and vigilant, but your help matters," wrote the police.
Police urged residents to report any suspicious behavior immediately, saying it "gives us a better chance to prevent these crimes before they happen."
