Canton Program To Take On Invasive Plants

Folks will gather at a local park Saturday for a special education program on non-native plants species and what to do about them.

CANTON, CT — Take a stroll on the Collinsville Pollen Trail on Saturday and learn a thing or two about handling invasive plant species.

The town is hosting its second "Invasive Plant ID & Management" program on Saturday, July 29, from 9:30 a.m. to noon at Mills Ponds Park, 10 E. Hill Road.

Participants will be able to learn to recognize, remove and safely dispose of invasive plants and stay to help free the native plants from bittersweet and multiflora rose.

The next such program will later in August or early September for the third and final cutting
of knotweed at Allen Place.
