Canton Puts Up Valiant Fight In Boys Soccer Finals
The eighth-seeded Warriors extended No. 2 Old Saybrook into overtime before falling in the Class S championship game at Dillon Stadium.

HARTFORD, CT — With rain falling at Dillon Stadium throughout the CIAC Class S boys soccer championship game between Canton and Old Saybrook, the two teams battled to a 1-1 deadlock through 80 minutes of regulation play, sending them into a pair of 15-minute overtime sessions. Unfortunately for the Warriors, the 2-time defending champion Rams caught a few breaks during the extra time, eventually claiming a 4-1 victory and a second straight title.
Trailing 1-0 at intermission, the Warriors tied it nearly nine minutes into the second half on a goal by Spencer Mix, assisted by London Abbott. Neither team scored in the final 30 minutes of regulation play, necessitating overtime.
Bradley Kulmann netted what proved to be the game-winning goal seven minutes into the first extra session. Kevin DeCapua and Kulmann added insurance tallies in the second overtime period.
