The owners cited staffing issues and cost concerns for the abrupt closure on Friday, May 9.
CANTON, CT — A local restaurant offering scenic views of the Farmington River that opened only a few months ago abruptly shuttered last week.
The owners of "The Lunette Bar and Kitchen," which was located at 41 Bridge St., Canton, announced last Friday that they were closing immediately.
They cited the ongoing challenges and skyrocketing costs taking place in the restaurant industry.

According to The Lunette's Facebook page, "it comes as a result of insurmountable challenges in maintaining adequate staffing in our kitchen, compounded by rising operational costs."
Simply put, the owners said, the restaurant was unable to operate "without a kitchen staff."

"Throughout our journey, our goal has always been to offer you an exceptional dining experience," wrote the owners.
"Unfortunately, the challenges we have faced have made it increasingly difficult to maintain the standards that our guests deserve and expect."
The eatery had specialized in traditional bar fare and craft beer.
The owners said the closing will allow them to spend more time with their children.
"We want to express our heartfelt thanks for your unwavering support and patronage," wrote The Lunette.
"Your smiles, laughter, and loyalty have been the heart of our establishment and have inspired us every day. It has been an honor to serve you."
Any outstanding gift cards will be accepted at The Linette's sister restaurant in New Hartford, a brew pub called "Brewery Legitimus."
